Desktop app

Upload a song — see how it’s built

The free Dawsons desktop app splits a song into vocals, drums, bass, guitar, and piano stems and detects tempo, key, chords, and sections — assembled into an editable project. That pipeline needs real local compute, so it is not available in the lightweight browser DAW.

What the desktop analysis does

  • Real stem separation into vocals / drums / bass / guitar / piano (and other), not a single “AI remix” black box.
  • Tempo, key, chord, and section detection feeding an editable Musical Scene Graph timeline.
  • Runs locally as part of the free desktop product direction — core analysis is not billed as a cloud credit product.

What you can try in the browser today

The browser DAW’s Any Sound row lets you upload a clip and reverse or pitch-shift it immediately, with effects — useful for experimentation while the desktop handles full song breakdown. Open mydawsons.com.

What we do not do

Dawsons does not extract audio from YouTube, Spotify, or similar hosts. Bring a file you have the right to use. Discover page embeds are separate: official videos for listening inspiration, not audio ripping.

Common questions

Can I separate stems on mydawsons.com in the browser?

Not full Demucs-style stem separation. That needs the free desktop app’s local compute. The browser can still upload clips for reverse, pitch, and effects.

Is stem separation a paid cloud API?

Dawsons’ product constraint is free local compute for core analysis — not a metered cloud stem API. Confirm current desktop packaging on the machine where you install it.

Will it recreate a copyrighted song for me?

Analysis helps you inspect structure of audio you provide. Dawsons does not offer ripping commercial streaming services or shipping sound-alike reconstructions of chart hits as product features.
